Rolex Oyster Speedking Precision
$5,800.00
The Rolex Speedking is a largely forgotten model these days but in its day it had two claims to fame. First it was the model named after the famous English speed record holder Douglas Campbell who was a Rolex wearer and aficionado. Secondly it was the ‘POW watch’. During World War 2 Rolex offered to send a watch to any Allied prisoner of war with the understanding that they could keep the watch and pay for it at wars end. Many POWs chose the Speedking owing to it being the most affordable watch in the range.
This example dates from circa 1946 and wears its 76 years very well. The silver dial shows a little bit of patina but is still very beautiful. At 30mm it would have been a large watch for its day but is perhaps today better suited for ladies. Freshly serviced and sold with our 12 month warranty.
